Degan Davis is an award-winning writer who published What Kind of Man Are You (BRICK Books), a collection of poems exploring masculinity, boyhood and manhood. Degan co-created a podcast named after—and based on—his book which touches on subjects of men and friendship, emotions, sports, love, grief, shame and healing. Degan’s essays, poetry and stories have appeared in journals in both Canada and the U.S., and he has won a number of awards including Newfoundland’s Fresh Fish Award for best unpublished novel, Arc’s Poem of the Year contest (second place), and What Kind of Man Are You was short-listed for the Re-Lit Award for poetry in 2019. Degan has worked as a Gestalt Therapist for almost 20 years in both a university setting and in private practice and he brings a wide range of perspectives, scholarship, experience and deep curiosity, to the ever-changing world of men and men’s relationships.
